Dr. Essalik earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Quebec in Montreal and a Master of Science in physical Chemistry/Electrochemistry from the same University. He then earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique of University of Montreal, Canada’s largest Engineering School. His postdoctoral work was at the Royal Military College of Canada, Kingston, Ontario, Canada both in Chemistry and in Chemical Engineering, later becoming a Professional Engineer and Scientist in Electrochemistry, Materials Science and in Engineering Physics. In nearly two decades he has taught and co-supervised four graduate students in different fields of research in two countries (Canada and the USA) and in three universities. In this period, his work was related to the development and the realization of miniature electrochemical sensors: potentiometric, amperometric and impedimetric. During this period, he made the smallest CO2 sensor in the world (200 μm x 200 μm) which had an integrated heater and an RTD for its working temperature control (280oC). He co-founded and founded two companies in the field of chemical, biochemical and biomedical devices. He has more than ten patents and over eight scientific papers. Before his current position as the Chief Scientist of Kiffik, he was Director of Biochemical Integration Systems, Chief Technology Executive Officer, Director of Engineering and Principal Scientist. He was also Research Associate at two universities and a Visiting Scholar to the Department of Physics, Georgetown University, Washington, DC, USA. Since November, 2008, he dedicated his time to help the people with chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. His company has developed the only device available in the world for the portable/mobile and non- invasive, continuous extractor of the interstitial fluid through the skin. He is recognized for his leadership and to lead and maintain the cohesion of a group of worker with different background and different education levels. He has many unpublished work related to the management of diabetes and the true composition of human interstitial fluid. He is always willing to travel and to move to other countries where he can get the work done.
Mr. Cagna is the current Chief Executive Officer for Kiffik Biomedical. Mr. Cagna is a founding member of Signati Medical Inc., a start-up medical device company in the men’s health space. Mr. Cagna possesses over 25 years of senior executive experience in the medical device arena and has held senior level positions at large medical device companies such as Medtronic and Boston Scientific. He played a key role in building the sales force at Advanced Bionics, which grew from zero to $200 million in 24 months leading to its acquisition by Boston Scientific. He has hired and trained over 1,000 sales representatives, sales managers and executive-level personnel. He has established distribution channels in the US and around the world which have led to his extensive network of over 5,000 contacts with physicians, distributors, nurses, government agency and general service administration personnel to reach out to every government health care facility in the US. George also has tremendous experience building startup medical device companies and delivering investor and shareholder value. Prior to joining Signati Medical George was COO at Sharps Technology, a pre-IPO company with IP in the safety syringe space, where he has helped facilitate three contracting manufacturing sites (in Mexico, India, and Israel); signed distribution agreements with large pharmacy chains; procured a contract with the largest online retailer in the world; and is finalizing regulatory paths in Canada, Brazil, Japan, and Mexico. Immediately before joining Sharps Technology, George was the North and South American President for Pulse Flow Technologies Inc., a rapidly growing UK-based medical device company. George has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Trenton State College.
Mr. Marr is the current Chief Operation Officer for Kiffik Biomedical. Mr. Marr is a founding member of Signati Medical Inc., a start-up medical device company in the men’s health space. Prior to joining Signati he was partner and principal at Precision Global Medical Solutions (PGMS), a boutique consulting firm specializing in the development of sales and marketing strategies, as well as sales distributorship opportunities, for start-up companies across the medical industry. At PGMS, Nick led the coordination and implementation of best sales practices, as well as developed commercialization strategies for start-up medical device companies. Nick has over 15 years’ experience selling, managing and implementing sales strategies across a diverse platform in the medical arena. Nick was also a sales director for Sharps Technology, a start-up medical device company. At Sharps Technology he developed a go-to-market sales strategy and attracted key board members to the company to help round out its leadership. Prior to Sharps Technology, Nick was Vice President of US Sales for Pulse Flow Technologies, a medical device company, where his team oversaw all sales and operations in the US, including managing the FDA approval processes, establishing a US base of operations and obtaining the necessary licenses and registrations to do business. His team ultimately penetrated the market by securing contracts with Veterans Affairs Hospitals nationwide. Previously, Nick was a Sales Director at ARX Specialty Pharmacy, specializing in topical pain creams. He helped establish their sales team, leading the company’s growth to $1 million dollars in monthly sales within the first 12 months. Nick was also a Regional Sales Director at Focused Pain Relief (FPR) Specialty Pharmacy, assisting in the rapid growth and development of their sales force. Nick began his career in medical sales at Pedinol Pharmaceutical, focused on podiatry. Nick has a B.S. in Rehabilitation from Springfield College.
